Are You Limiting the Universe’s Plans For You?
When you limit your dreams and goals by thinking too small and not staying open to unknown possibilities.
I’ve been talking a lot lately about manifesting and creating what you really want. There are affirmations, vision boards, and all sorts of tools to help you envision and create your biggest dreams.
But do you ever find yourself getting stuck in doing these exercises?
I always feel like I know what I want, but to detail it out just doesn’t do it for me.
Like, I know I’d love to live on a couple of acres with some trees, a house with enough room to live and work at home, but the visualization guides tell you to get more specific:
what color is your house?
how many acres are you on?
what furnishings will you have?
how many trees surround your space?
how many ducks in your pond?
And I know there are others who feel like this too.
Because of this, I’ve never been big on vision boards and creating pictures of my dream house or perfect spouse. I’ve always felt like, “what if I’m visualizing one thing, but there’s something different or better out there for me?”
Well, guess what? I recently found out that there are different types of manifesting… and I am what’s called a “non-specific” manifestor!
So, there are two types of manifesting, specific and non-specific as well as two types of manifesting actions, active and passive. I’m an active, non-specific.
Hallelujah! It all makes sense now!
As a non-specific, I visualize in generalizations. So rather than a “4 bedroom, 2.5 bath two story brick house on 2.5 acres, with 2 windows in every room, and 3 trees in the front and 4 trees in the back of the house”, I’m more of a “large house with room enough for both of us to comfortably work at home, land that can accommodate goats and bees and a couple more cats, room for practicing archery, and preferably on or near water for fishing”.
This also leaves it open for the universe to send something that fits my needs, but in a way I might not have thought of.
I like that this doesn’t limit me. If the universe decides that the way I get what I want means I stumble upon an inexpensive working goat farm and can quit my job to raise goats and bees or a friend shares that there’s a piece of land with a stocked lake on a few acres of land and the owner wants to gift it to someone who will keep it maintained, then so be it!
Even for the specific manifestors, I recommend keeping your possibilities open to something better. As you describe in detail the dream job or house or whatever it is, dont let your own imagination limit you. Ask that you receive “that or something better”.
While we may think we know what we want, either specifically or generally, the universe often has bigger and better plans for us… if we stay open to them!
