Welcome to another week of ponderings at The LifeWalk!
Have you ever found yourself lost in the spiral of thoughts about reality? I just started watching a series on Netflix called 3 Body Problem that stretches the ideas of reality and virtual reality. I’m only about 4 episodes in so I’m not even sure what direction the show is going, but it definitely has me hooked!
If you’ve followed any personal development gurus in the last 30 years you’ve likely heard that “we create our own reality”. And while this is true, there still much to question about the nature of what’s real.
Read on for this week’s thoughts on the subject…
“… most of us do not realize how real our imagination is.” -Lon Milo Duquette
What is real?
If I think something, does that make it real? Or does it have to manifest physically before it becomes real? Are ideas reality, or are they just some flotsam milling about inside our heads?
I’m not sure where I’m going with this topic, but when I came across the quote above in “The Chicken Qabalah of Rabbi Lamed Ben Clifford” I knew there was something there… or maybe I just imagined it.
I know we create our own reality. This knowledge often bites me in the ass when I’m in a funk or having a bad day. I know I created it and I think I can change it. But sometimes I just want to wallow and blame the world. Sometimes feelings suck.
Changing what’s real
I don’t have any magic answers on how to change your current reality. Self help gurus have shared platitudes on changing your reality for decades. I may be one of them.
“Change your thoughts, change your reality.” “Manifest your dreams.” “If you can dream it, you can do it.” Blah, blah, blah.
The real reality is to acknowledge that it is all just thoughts. It’s all just ideas. Whatever we are experiencing is just an expression of our imagination.
Our reality is our imagination. Our imagination is our reality. Does it need to be more?
What I’m Reading This Week
Here are some other ‘stacks that have caught my attention this week. Check them out and subscribe or share if you like what they have to say:
Yeah, I think it’s a little of both. My understanding is there’s a part of our brain that experiences imagination as reality, and that seems accurate. It’s why my body reacts to certain thoughts like I’m in danger or like I’m falling in love. Manifesting, shaping reality, that i haven’t gotten figured out.
